The Liberation Foundation (TLF) investigates wrongful conviction claims by researching claims submitted on a pro-se basis. After compiling a detailed memorandum, TLF will present memoranda to the proper authorities, including but not limited to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office Conviction Integrity Unit (CIU), and the Pennsylvania Innocence Project.
The ultimate goal of the The Liberation Foundation is to assist with the reformation of the criminal justice system in Pennsylvania and the nation. Through Project RIC, we try to get people home.
Project HOPE’s mission is to provide returning citizens with the resources necessary to stay home. In collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections and SCI Coal Township, Project HOPE offers a 16-week reentry preparation course. Led by local reentry experts, the curriculum focuses on building financial skills, accessing housing and educational opportunities, and developing a strong reentry home plan. Reentry Packages are given to Project HOPE graduates upon their release.
At the Liberation Foundation, we know that radical change to the justice system is a community-wide project. Working with young people throughout Pennsylvania, The Liberation Foundation's Student Justice Initiative promotes student involvement in criminal justice reform. Through participation in SJI, students pursuing college or law degrees aid our mission by assisting in all parts of the investigation process, managing our social media, and coordinating fundraising efforts.
