Founded by exoneree Terrance Lewis, The Liberation Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to advocating for Pennsylvanians with wrongful conviction claims and supporting those preparing to returnThe Liberation Foundation also seeks to support formerly incarcerated folks and challenge police and prosecutorial misconduct.
The Liberation Foundation was founded by Philadelphia exoneree Terrance Lewis. A wrongfully-convicted juvenile lifer, Terrance created his plan for TLF while he was incarcerated in Pennsylvania. Officially established as a 501c3 non-profit in May 2020, the Liberation Foundation comprises a team of dedicated volunteers from across Pennsylvania.
We are dedicated to advocating for wrongfully convicted people who do not yet have legal representation. The Liberation Foundation also runs reentry preparation programming for currently-incarcerated Pennsylvanians preparing to return home from incarceration.
