The Liberation Foundation is a new and unique criminal justice reform organization, with a primary focus on Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Commonwealth. Founded by Terrance Lewis, someone who was exonerated, the Liberation Foundation is very in touch with networks that can support exonerees in terms of re-entry and support upon release. Based on the current state of the justice system and the needs of the incarcerated, there is a dire need for more organizations in this realm.
Terrance’s personal experience reflects this, he wrote to legal organizations every month for years and never received a response even though his case showed very apparent innocence. Our work is a collaborative effort between students, activists, and lawyers passionate about bringing justice to the innocent and wrongfully accused. The Liberation Foundation’s work is wide-reaching, we work to exonerate innocent persons and to advocate for a better justice system and policies.
All pro se submissions must be filled out by the incarcerated individual who is requesting our assistance. After compiling a detailed memorandum, TLF will present memoranda to the proper authorities. Email us at outreach@liberation-foundation.com to request that a pro se questionnaire be mailed to you or an incarcerated friend or family member. You can also write to us at: The Liberation Foundation P.O. Box 33342, Philadelphia, PA 19142.
We accept cases where the petitioner pleads actual innocence, wrongful conviction or a disproportionate sentencing.
