Founded by exoneree Terrance Lewis, The Liberation Foundation is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for wrongfully convicted Pennsylvanians and providing reentry preparation education for currently-incarcerated men and women. In short, the Liberation Foundation’s mission is twofold: to get people home and to provide them the resources they need to stay home. The Liberation Foundation aims to secure justice and freedom for wrongfully incarcerated Pennsylvanians and to provide those preparing to return home with a strong foundation for reentry. We do this by partnering with volunteer students, investigators and attorneys, and by working in tandem with correctional institutions, formerly-incarcerated mentors and reentry experts to provide comprehensive reentry preparation programming within Pennsylvania prisons. Through this work, TLF hopes to support the broader mission of creating a new, more compassionate justice system.
Note: The Liberation Foundation is not a law firm. We cannot provide legal advice to those who contact us.
The Liberation Foundation also seeks to support people preparing to return home from prison. By aiding returning citizens, and educating our community about the need for a better justice system, we hope to create lasting change while supporting those who need it most.
The Liberation Foundation also supports ongoing efforts to change our justice system for the better. We're pressuring legislators for a better future, and encouraging communities to speak up for change.
